Personal & Network Web Servers

Microsoft's Active Server Pages require an ASP-enabled web server. The most common ones are the MS Internet Information Server shipped with NT Server 4 (IIS 4), Windows 2000 Professional and Servers (IIS 5) and Windows XP Professional and Windows 2003 Servers (IIS 6), which can host ASP sites, and the MS Personal Web Server, which can be used on Windows 9x PCs and NT 4 Workstations to develop and test ASP scripts and webs.

Neither Windows ME or Windows XP Home editions support Microsoft Web Servers.

For more help on using PWS with Windows 9x please look here but note that the use of later MS web server technology is encouraged, i.e. Windows 2000 or Windows XP Professional for local development.

If you are looking for help with setting up StoreFront 2000, please look here.
