The StoreFront Newsgroups

In the StoreFront support newsgroup, you can get help and advice with questions and problems using the StoreFront software. The newsgroup is also monitored by Bob LaGarde and some of his tech support people.

If you ask a question and don't get a response, it can mean that no one knows the answer or has time to research it then, or it can mean that SF support is aware of the issue and currently working on a solution. Sometimes we don't get an official response until there is an official solution. That's my best answer to the "why don't I get an answer" question.

To connect to the SF support newsgroup, use the following settings in your news reader.

Host or Server: www.storefront.net

Newsgroup: storefront.support.general

The following link will attempt to open the newsgroup in your news reader. You can then subscribe to it to save it in your reader.

When asking questions in the newsgroup, you will get an answer faster if you include information about the version of SF you are using, if using an Access or MSSQL database, whether the issue is on a local computer or a remote web server, and what version of Windows you are running. If the site is live, provide a URL so others can see the problem or issue themselves.

In general, the more information you provide, the better the answers you will get. Don't forget that the folks who participate in the newsgroup are mostly SF users and developers, who volunteer their time to help new users and those with problems.

If you are using the MS Internet Explorer (IE) browser and got an error message in your web similar to this

The page cannot be displayed
There is a problem with the page you are trying to reach and it cannot be displayed.
...
HTTP 500 - Internal server error
Internet Explorer

click on Tools > Internet Options > Advanced and uncheck Show friendly HTTP error messages and try the action that created the error again. Future error messages will then include details of the actual error and on what line the problem occurred. If you copy and paste the significant part of the error message into your support newsgroup post, you will have a better chance of getting help. Again, without enough details it is hard to offer good advice.

There is also another newsgroup on the SF server that is for general e-commerce discussions and questions. That newsgroup is the e-commerce.general.forum. Here is a link to that newsgroup:
