What is a PWS?

The following information is provided for RWebs.Net clients and those needing to install and configure the Microsoft Personal Web Server on a local Windows 9x PC, to be able to work with and develop Active Server Pages.

The Microsoft Personal Web Server (PWS) was designed to give Windows 95 and Windows 98 a limited version of the Interenet Information Server (IIS) included in Windows NT Server 4.0. Installing PWS on a Windows 9x system allows the development and testing of server-based webs and is required to create and test Active Server Pages (ASP).

If you are running Windows 2000 Professional, the PWS has been replaced by a limited version of IIS 5.0, which can be installed as an option.
